    Quick Summary

ProtectSmartly respects your privacy and the privacy of your emergency contacts. Here's what you need to know:

    • No unsolicited messages: We will NEVER send SMS messages unless YOU trigger the SOS button
    • Emergency alerts only: SMS messages are sent exclusively for emergency situations you initiate
    • Your data is protected: We never share, sell, or rent your contact information to third parties
    • You're in control: You decide who receives your emergency alerts

    How Customer Signup Works

When you sign up for ProtectSmartly, you create a personal safety account that allows you to:

    1. Create your account: Provide your email address and create a secure password. Your phone number is optional but recommended for account recovery.
    2. Set up your profile: Add your name and any medical information you'd like emergency responders to know about.
    3. Grant permissions: Allow location access so your emergency contacts can find you when you need help.
    4. Add emergency contacts: Enter the phone numbers and email addresses of trusted people who should be alerted during an emergency.

By signing up, you acknowledge that you understand how our emergency alert system works and consent to our SMS policy outlined below.

    Adding Emergency Contacts

Your emergency contact list is the group of trusted individuals who will receive alerts when you trigger an SOS:

    • You choose your contacts: Only you can add or remove emergency contacts from your list.
    • Required information: For each contact, you provide their name, phone number, and/or email address.
    • Relationship context: You can specify the relationship (family, friend, colleague) to help contacts understand their role.
    • Consent responsibility: Before adding someone as an emergency contact, we recommend informing them that they may receive emergency alerts from you.

Important: Your emergency contacts will only ever receive messages when YOU initiate an SOS alert. They will never receive marketing messages, promotional content, or any other communications from ProtectSmartly.

    When SMS Messages Are Sent

SMS messages are ONLY sent when you press the SOS button.

Here's exactly what happens when you trigger an emergency alert:

    1. You press the SOS button: This is the ONLY action that triggers SMS alerts. No automated messages, no scheduled texts, no promotional content.
    2. Alert is sent immediately: Your emergency contacts receive an SMS containing:
      • A notification that you've triggered an emergency alert
      • Your current location (if location permissions are granted)
      • A link to track your real-time location
      • Any medical information you've chosen to share
    3. Follow-up options: You may send additional updates or mark yourself as safe, which will also notify your contacts.

We never send: Marketing messages, promotional texts, newsletters, reminders, or any other non-emergency communications via SMS.

    Your Data Privacy

We do NOT share your contact information with anyone.

Here's our commitment to protecting your data:

    • No selling of data: We will never sell, rent, or lease your personal information or your emergency contacts' information to any third party.
    • No sharing with advertisers: Your phone numbers and email addresses are never shared with marketing companies, advertisers, or data brokers.
    • Encrypted storage: All contact information is stored securely using industry-standard encryption.
    • Limited access: Only essential system processes can access contact information, and only for the purpose of sending emergency alerts you initiate.
    • Data deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time through the app settings.

    Your Consent

By using ProtectSmartly and adding emergency contacts, you consent to the following:

    • You authorize ProtectSmartly to send SMS messages to your designated emergency contacts when you trigger an SOS alert
    • You confirm that you have informed your emergency contacts that they may receive emergency alerts from you
    • You understand that standard message and data rates may apply to SMS messages
    • You acknowledge that SMS delivery depends on network conditions and carrier availability

    Opting Out

If an emergency contact no longer wishes to receive alerts:

    • They can reply "STOP" to any SMS message to unsubscribe from future alerts
    • They can contact the ProtectSmartly user directly to be removed from their emergency contact list
    • They can email us at support@protectsmartly.com to be removed from a specific user's contact list

Note: Opting out means they will no longer receive emergency alerts when that user needs help.

    Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based entirely on user-initiated actions. There are no scheduled or automated messages. You control when alerts are sent by pressing the SOS button. Most users may never need to use the SOS feature, meaning their contacts may never receive any messages.
